(Autorenreferat)... view less

"The article deals with a multi-dimensional discussion of 'illiteracy' and proposes the concept of literacy. Focussing the family as significant setting for literacy development, family is discussed as a key setting for the transmission of literacy practice and culture. This involves several reflections on implications for the setup of educational strategies. The concept of 'Family Literacy' as an educational strategy will be presented, an intergenerational concept that has the potential of being a key strategy for the development of literacy. Finally, several challenging issues in the development of Family Literacy Programmes will be drafted." (author's abstract)... view less
