In der sozialwissenschaftlichen Literatur zur Organisationsberatung wird Methoden und Techniken der Beratung viel Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet, nicht aber der Beratungsbeziehung. Allzu schnell wird aus gegenwärtigen Missständen der Beratungspraktiken eine Tugend gemacht oder gar Beratung zur bloßen Geldmacherei erklärt, die für Mittelständler ohnehin unerschwinglich sei. Nach den Bedingungen des Gelingens der Beratungsbeziehung, dem Arbeitsbündnis, wird hingegen kaum gefragt. Der Beitrag greift das in der Professionalisierungstheorie entwickelte Konzept des Arbeitsbündnisses auf, in dessen Zentrum die Rückgewinnung von Autonomie steht, und prüft, ob und wie es für die Beratung von Organisationen angemessen zu fassen wäre. Dazu wird das Konzept, das der Arzt/Patient-Beziehung abgelesen wurde, modifiziert, indem Gemeinsamkeiten und Differenzen beider Typen von Klienten bestimmt werden.... view less

Research publications regarding management consulting often focus on skills, techniques and methods, yet neglect to focus on the relationship between the consultant and the client. When addressing deficiencies in consultancy practices and methods, the conditions necessary for a successful consultant-client relationship, the working alliance, are rarely considered. This article, therefore, addresses this issue by adapting the concept of the working alliance as developed in professionalization theory. In addition, it considers how this concept can be transferred adequately to organizations. For this purpose, we show that the concept, which was derived from the dynamic of the doctor-patient relationship, is adaptable and can be modified by responding to similarities and differences between the types of clients in both forms of working alliances.... view less
