"This paper sheds light on possible positive outcomes of extracurricular support programs on the development of gifted children. Based on the concepts of giftedness of Gagné and the Stage-Environment-Fit theory of Eccles, it is assumed that special learning opportunities for gifted children outside school might compensate for the gap between talent and possible performance which gifted children often experience at school. The results of the study comprising 45 primary school students with an IQ > 130 show that well-being in extracurricular activities enhances self-regulated learning strategies."
