"Vor dem Hintergrund der Schwierigkeiten auf dem Lehrstellenmarkt wird derzeit heftig über die Ausbildungsreife der Lehrstellenbewerber diskutiert. Eine Reihe von Unklarheiten erschwert jedoch den sachlichen Umgang mit diesem Thema. Was verbirgt sich eigentlich hinter dem Begriff Ausbildungsreife? Ist Ausbildungsreife nur ein politisches Konstrukt, das von der Arbeitgeber- und Arbeitnehmerseite interessenpolitisch genutzt wird? Haben sich die Qualifikationen der heutigen Bewerber tatsächlich verschlechtert? Welche Veränderungen nehmen Einfluss auf die Reife der Bewerber? Und was kann getan werden, um die Ausbildungsreife der Jugendlichen zu verbessern? "In light of the difficulties on the German training place market, Germany is currently experiencing an intense debate over the 'vocational maturity' of today’s training place applicants. However, a number of unclear points make it difficult to deal with this subject in an objective manner. What does the term 'vocational maturity' (the state of having the fundamental knowledge and attitudes required for successful vocational education and training) actually entail? Is 'vocational maturity' just a political construct that employers’ associations and trade unions use for their own political interests? Are today’s applicants actually less qualified than their earlier counterparts? What changes have an impact on applicants’ maturity? And what can be done to improve young people’s 'vocational maturity'? This publication attempts to answer these questions on the basis of a survey of vocational training experts and trainees."
