Die Modernisierung hegemonialer Männlichkeit und die Bedeutung dieser Entwicklung für das Verständnis von Antifeminismus

Abstract

Ausgehend vom Befund der Leipziger Autoritarismusstudie (LAS) 2022 zur Verbreitung von Antifeminismus in Deutschland diskutiert der Artikel den gegenwärtigen Wandel hegemonialer Männlichkeit und dessen Bedeutung für antifeministische Weltbilder. Im Rückgriff auf Connell wird gezeigt, dass sich Männlichkeiten derzeit modernisieren und das traditionelle Ideal bürgerlich heteropatriarchaler Männlichkeit an Einfluss verliert. Mit Bezug auf weitere Einstellungsuntersuchungen wird die These aufgestellt, dass in der Bundesrepublik momentan eine Pattsituation zwischen teiltraditionellen und modernisierten Männlichkeitsformen besteht. Ausgehend davon kommt der Beitrag zu dem Schluss, dass sich das in der LAS 2022 beschriebene, antifeministische Männlichkeitsideal gesellschaftlich gegenwärtig in einer defensiven Position gegenüber anderen Männlichkeitsformen befindet. Aufgrund der ambivalenten Verbreitung des Gleichstellungsgedankens unter Männern bleibt es jedoch weiterhin politisch einflussreich.

Based on the findings of the Leipziger Autoritarismusstudie (LAS) 2022 on the spread of antifeminism in Germany, the article discusses the current transformation of hegemonic masculinity and its relevance for antifeminist world views. Drawing on Connell, it shows that masculinities are currently modernizing and that the traditional ideal of bourgeois heteropatriarchal masculinity is losing its influence. With reference to further attitudinal studies, there currently appears to be a stalemate between partially traditional and modernized forms of masculinity in Germany. Based on this thesis, the article concludes that the antifeminist ideal of masculinity described in the LAS 2022 is currently on the defensive in society as compared with other forms of masculinity. However, due to the ambivalent spread among men of the idea of equality, the antifeminist ideal remains politically influential.
