Für die Entwicklung der personalen Identität eines Menschen sind seine emotionalen Bindungen und seine Liebesfähigkeit mindestens so wichtig wie sein Vernunftvermögen. Nachdem diese Auffassung begründet wurde, werden weitere zentrale theoretische Aspekte des spätmodernen Identitätsbegriffs skizziert (und gegen seine post-moderne Kritik und Verabschiedung 'verteidigt'). Schließlich wird ein kurzer Blick auf neuere Forschungen zu kulturellen Formen des (z.B. independenten und interdependenten) Selbst geworfen und dafür plädiert, komplexere Rekonstruktionen solcher Varianten des Selbst zu versuchen, als sie bislang vorliegen.... view less

For the development of an individual's identity as a person, emotional attachments and the capacity for love are at least as important as the rational faculties. After the substantiation of this view, the article outlines other central theoretical aspects of the concept of identity in late modernity and "defends" them against post-modernist criticism and dismissal. In conclusion, the authors take a brief look at recent research on the (e.g. independent and interdependent) self and advocate attempts at more complex reconstructions of these variants of the self than have been essayed so far.... view less
