This paper presents a practical transfer of the Grounded Theory Methodology (GTM) to the analysis of music videos called "Audio Visual Grounded Theory Methodology" (AVGTM). We illustrate the analytical procedures in general (with a focus on "segmentation" and "coding"), but also underscore the concrete way of a software based access to the videos (MAXQDA 2020, Version Plus Portable). The text thus provides answers to two questions that have recently become more significant and will prospectively become even more relevant: (1) How can methodologically controlled analyses of audiovisual data be carried out and what has to be considered in terms of media-specific and methodological issues? (2) Which advantages does the software offer in which phases of the analysis?... view less
