Neunzig Minuten Ewigkeit - Die kollektive Fanseele und die Autorität der Masse

Abstract

Mit Rückgriff auf Theorien der psychoanalytischen Sozialpsychologie geht der Autor der Doppeldeutigkeit des Fußballsports und dessen fanatischen Anhänger_innen nach. Die Analyse dient als Grundlange zur Untersuchung der unter Fußballfans vorherrschenden Geschlechterverhältnisse und des hegemonial-männlichen Vergesellschaftungsraums Fankurve. Es wird aufgezeigt, inwiefern das Stadion das psychische Spannungsverhältnis zwischen Libido und Aggressionen aufzulösen vermag. Der Blick fällt insbesondere auf die Sonderrolle der Ultras. Als zentrale Merkmale rücken der Begriff der Ehre und die konservative Mystifizierung des Sportvereins ins Analysezentrum. Diese Mechanismen dienen zunächst der Konstitution der Fankultur als männliche Instanz als auch der auf Regression und Autorität aufbauenden Gruppendynamik. In Anschluss an Freuds Theorien zur Massenpsychologie wird abschließend das Auftreten aktiver Fans untersucht. Die Betrachtung der Masse als physische als auch psychologische Einheit ermöglicht es, die widersprüchlichen Verhaltensweise aktiver Fans als auch den sozialen Anreiz und die Faszination der Fankurve nachvollziehen zu können.

The article approaches the equivocation of football and the behaviour of its fanatic followers. Therefore, the author relates to theories in the field of a psychoanalytical social psychology. As a foundational research, the obtaining results of this analysis consider both, the gender relations within active fan communities and the stadium as a space of socialisation for hegemonic masculinity. Furthermore, the author reflects upon the process of disintegration of the psychological tensions between aggression and libido. In so doing, the main focus lies on the special role of the Ultras as the leading figures in the stands. Consequently, the research focusses on the concept of honour as well as the conservative mystification of the footballclub. Both mechanisms do serve the masculine formation of fandom. Hence, the author reflects on the Freudian studies of group psychology and its effects on regression and sublimation. In conclusion, the article presents a critical reflection of the authoritarian powerdynamics within the Fan- and Ultras-communities as well as an explanatory approach for the enormous social popularity of football.
