Lebensorientierungen als subjektive Zugänge zum Wandel der Arbeit

Abstract

Im Gegensatz zu verbreiteten Vorstellungen, denen zu Folge Menschen sich strukturbedingten Anforderungen und ihrem Wandel in ihrer Identität anpassen, geht dieser Beitrag davon aus, dass Individuen sich mit ihren Lebensumständen und speziell mit Veränderungen in der Arbeitswelt auseinandersetzen, indem sie in ihren Lebensorientierungen bestimmte Formen entwickeln, sich als handlungsfähig zu begreifen, womit zugleich bestimmte Restriktionen verbunden sind. Der Umgang mit Ansprüchen an Arbeit und berufliche Entwicklungsmöglichkeiten sowie deren Legitimierung werden im Lichte solcher Lebensorientierungen besser verständlich. Der Beitrag verdeutlicht dies mit drei beispielhaften Typen von Lebensorientierungen, die in den empirischen Ergebnissen einer von den AutorInnen derzeit am Institut für Sozialforschung Frankfurt a.M. durchgeführten prospektiv-biographisch angelegten Untersuchung über die "Ansprüche an Arbeit und berufliche Entwicklung von 'NormalarbeitnehmerInnen'" identifiziert werden konnten. Besonders fokussiert wird hierbei auf die Verarbeitung der Prekarisierung der Arbeitswelt und der Wirtschaftskrise.

Contrary to current conceptions in social science which correlate unproblematically present changes in people's working and living conditions to corresponding social-psychic dispositions, this article puts forward the idea that people intervene actively in social changes and circumstances and more specifically in those at their work. Following what we call "life-orientations", they develop particular forms of understanding themselves as actors, which at the same time are connected to certain restrictions. The different ways in which people conceptualize their claims on working conditions and professional development as well as the different forms to legitimate those claims are better to understand in the light of life-orientations. This is what the article shows on the basis of three types of life-orientations gained from qualitative empirical research being conducted by the authors at the Institute for Social Research in Frankfurt am Main with prospectiv-biographical interviews in the context of a scientific project about "NormalarbeitnehmerInnen's" claims on work and their professional life course. In our project we focus in particular on peoples’ perception of precarisation and the economic crisis.
