In the research on which this article is based we analyzed qualitative interviews with working mothers and concluded that they tend to reproduce the neoliberal discourse in their everyday language. These women define themselves as "managers" of their families and regard reconciling work and family life as their personal responsibility, which they fulfil by successfully planning, structuring and organizing their everyday lives. In other words, they have adopted the role models provided by the neoliberal public discourse, which delegates responsibility for reconciling work and family life almost exclusively to mothers.... view less
