Mehrsprachigkeit als methodische Herausforderung in transnationalen Forschungskontexten

Abstract

"Der Beitrag befasst sich mit Mehrsprachigkeit im Forschungsprozess, indem er die damit einhergehenden methodischen Herausforderungen anhand einer deutschschwedischen Untersuchung aufzeigt. Er stellt ein Verfahren zur Diskussion, das Mehrsprachigkeit über verschiedene Phasen des Forschungsprozesses hinweg beachtet und eine rekonstruktive Interviewanalyse beinhaltet. Mit Mehrsprachigkeit umzugehen, erfordert demnach, die Vermittlungs- und Übersetzungsleistungen im Verlauf des Forschungsprozesses offenzulegen und ebenso wie sonstige Entscheidungen in der Erhebung und Auswertung qualitativer Untersuchungen zu dokumentieren. Die daraus resultierenden Kommentare von Übersetzenden gehen in die Auswertung ein. Sie bieten Informationen zur Textauslegung durch die Übersetzung sowie zum Bedeutungsspektrum sprachlicher Äußerungen. Die rekonstruktive Datenauswertung ermöglicht schließlich, die Kontextabhängigkeit sprachlicher Bedeutungen zu beachten. Das zur Diskussion gestellte Verfahren sieht auf diese Weise vor, die Textauslegung durch die Übersetzung nachzuvollziehen und die Voraussetzungen der Interpretation übersetzter Daten zu reflektieren." "The contribution discusses multilinguality in the context of the research process by pointing out to the thus-connected methodical challenges by the example of a German-Swedish study. It puts a method up for discussion, which takes multilinguality into consideration over several phases of a research process and includes a reconstructive interview analysis. According to this method, dealing with multilinguality requires to disclose the communication and translation performances in the course of a research process and to document them, just like any other decision made in the context of the recording and assessing of qualitative studies. The thus resulting comments by translators will be part of the assessment. They provide information about interpreting the text for the translation as well as about the range of possible meanings of linguistic expressions. Finally, the reconstructive assessment of data allows for taking the context dependency of linguistic meanings. This way the method put up for discussion is meant to allow for comprehending the interpretation of a text in the course of the translation and for reflecting on the preconditions for the interpretation of translated data."
