(Autorenreferat)... view less

"In their future profession, students studying to become teachers make a significant contribution to the political socialization of the younger generation. Therefore it is important to explore their political democratic values. The indicators covered in a standardized questionnaire point to an ambivalence and indifference. Although these students have a pronounced political interest and a self-positioning leaning to the left, democratic principles are sufficiently deep-seated in only half of them. Multivariate analysis shows the co-variation of these aspects. Additionally, there are specific effects of gender and the number of semesters studied. Other characteristics such as origin and the subjects studied play a minor role." (author's abstract)... view less
