"Business ethics of intercultural management should be able to achieve both the foundation of universally valid principles and their context-sensitive application. This twofold problem is discussed between the praxeological ethics of deliberation (Steinmann) and the transcendental-pragmatic ethics of discourse (Apel/Böhler). Steinmann's approach lacks of logical consistency. He confounds the foundation of universalism with its producing. The transcendental-pragmatic discourse ethics offers a more rational concept because it starts argumentation consequently 'bottom up' - that is strictly reflecting on the present practice of argumentation. The universally valid principles uncovered by that procedure are the fundamental elements of the architecture of discourse ethics. Differentiating between several types of discourses - discourses of principles, of concretization and of application - the discourse ethics is able to respond flexible on culturally different situations without losing universal orientation."
