Probleme des Aufbaus und Umfangs einer Datenbank 'Historische Statistik'

Abstract

Eine Datenbank für historische Statistik existiert in Deutschland bisher noch nicht, obwohl die Nützlichkeit eines solchen Informationspools außer Frage steht. Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird ein Programm für eine noch nicht existierende, doch mögliche Datenbank entwickelt und vorgestellt. Die Schwierigkeiten, die im Zusammenhang der Generierung einer solchen spezifischen Datenbank auftreten, werden dokumentiert: (1) Definition der historischen Fakten für den Computer; (2) Vereinheitlichung der Daten in Einheiten für ihre formale Repräsentation. 'A data base for historical statistics, although in many respects and for many users useful and desireable, doesn't not exist in Germany. For this fact account the many difficulties in modelling such a data base: from defining a computable historical fact, from problems of unification of data to simple questions of the formal representation of data.
