"Die Skizze gibt einen Überblick über den bisherigen Beitrag der Europäischen Gemeinschaft (EG) zur Arbeitnehmermitwirkung bei unternehmerischen Entscheidungen im nationalen und im transnationalen Bereich. Dabei zeigt sich, dass die EG sich auf ein kooperatives Modell der Arbeitsbeziehungen festgelegt und gleichzeitig rein antagonistisch-konfliktorisch ausgerichteten Modellen eine Absage erteilt hat. Die EG-Gesetzgebung zielt nicht auf institutionelle Uniformität, sondern favorisiert Verfahrensmodelle, die den jeweiligen Akteuren große Gestaltungsfreiheiten belassen. Arbeitnehmermitwirkung bei unternehmerischen Entscheidungen ist zu einem wesentlichen Element des europäischen Sozialmodells geworden." (Autorenreferat)... view less

"The article gives a sketchy overview on the contribution by the European Community (EC) in the area of employee involvement in management's decision making within the Member States and trans-nationally. It can be demonstrated that the EC has been trying to establish a cooperative model of industrial relations instead of a merely antagonistic-conflict-oriented one. The EC legislation is not focussing on institutional uniformity but offers procedural arrangements which give the actors utmost freedom to shape the pattern fitting best to their needs.
