(Autorenreferat)... view less

"This article summarizes a study on the social conditions of low-incomers in the province of Salzburg. In addition to a structural analysis of all employments with a maximum monthly gross income of Euro 1500 that were reported to the 'Salzburger Gebietskrankenkasse' in 2007, a representative survey of low-incomers was carried out on the basis of telephone interviews. Finally, in-depth interviews with ten persons were completed. The results are also relevant for the political level: in Salzburg - depending on the definition of the term of 'low-incomers' - between 20 and 50 percent of all employees are so-called low-incomers. These figures show that this does not only represent a marginal phenomenon, but is an issue that concerns mainstream society." (author's abstract)... view less
