(pmb)... view less

'An alalysis of the character of the land lease in Russia at the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th centuries is presented. The problem is studied on the basis of mass statistic data of the Zemstvo (local administration of Empire Russia). This source had not been used before for this purpose. Using correlation and factor analysis the structure of peasant economy is investigated. An attempt is made to determine the leases' place in Russia's economy and reveal the character of the consumer and commercial leases. The analysis of mass data incounted a predominance of the commercial lease, but on a relative low level. This conclusion challenges the traditional point of view on the peasant economy in the Central Black Earth region of Russia.' (author's abstract)... view less
