Die Tübinger Dokumentation der preußischen Landtagswahlen 1867-1918: Arbeitsbericht über den Einsatz von TUSTEP in der wahlgeschichtlichen Grundlagenforschung

Abstract

Der vorliegende Beitrag beschreibt ein Forschungsprojekt des historischen Seminars der Universität Tübingen, das die bisher nur unzureichend erforschte Geschichte der preußischen Landtagswahlen im Kaiserreich systematisch aufzuarbeiten sucht. Die nach dem indirekten und öffentlichen Dreiklassenwahlrecht abgehaltenen Wahlen zwischen 1867 und 1918 sind elektronisch erfaßt und um Daten aus dem Handbuch der Mitglieder des preußischen Abgeordnetenhauses ergänzt worden. Zweck der Dokumentation ist es, eine genaueres Bild der politischen Kultur des Kaiserreichs zu erlangen. (pmb)

'Between 1987 and 1992 a research project on the elections to the Prussian Diet was carried out in the History Department at the University of Tübingen. This meant an important contribution to the research on the internal structure of the hegemonic state of Prussia. The outcome of this project is a handbook listing the results of selected preliminary elections (Urwahlen) in all constituencies, as well as an almost complete list of the elections of parliamentary representatives (Abgeordnetenwahlen) between 1867 and 1918. These results are presented in table form with annotations, supplemented with comprehensive indices and summaries. The research was facilitated to a large extent by the use of electronic data processing, with the spheres of its application ranging from the acquisition of the data to its statistical analysis and the final typesetting. Most of the EDP work was carried out with TUSTEP, a suite of programmes for analysing and processing textual data for scholarly research. The system proved particulary valuable in the areas of automatic generation of indices and typesetting.' (author's abstract)
