Probleme sozialer Integration, Identität und Machtverhältnisse in einer Großwohnsiedlung

Abstract

Die Komplexität sozialer Integrationsprobleme in städtischen Großwohnsiedlungen wird am Beispiel des am Bund-Länder-Programm "Soziale Stadt" beteiligten Stadtteils Hannover-Vahrenheide dargestellt. Der Beitrag fasst eine Untersuchung zusammen, die kleinräumige Sozialstrukturanalysen mit qualitativen Methoden der Befragung und Beobachtung zu einer neuen Methode der Sozialraumanalyse verbunden hat. Theoretisch und methodisch wird erläutert, wie über die allgemeinen Befunde städtischer sozialer Segregation hinaus stadtteiltypische Konfl iktlinien identifi ziert und dargestellt werden können. Alltagskulturell praktizierte soziale Distanzen und Nähebeziehungen werden damit ebenso kenntlich gemacht wie politisch wirksame Ressourcen- und Machtverteilungen im Stadtteil.

The complexity of the problems of social integration in large-scale urban housing developments is illustrated by reference to the case of Hannover-Vahrenheide, a suburb which is participating in the Social City programme run jointly in Germany by the federal and state governments. This paper provides a summary of the study, which has combined local-level analyses of social structures, on the one hand, with qualitative methods for interrogation and observation to create a new method for the analysis of social space. The author explains in both theoretical and methodological terms how the general fi ndings on urban social segregation can be analysed to identify and depict the lines of confl ict typical of a particular urban area. This reveals equally well both the familiar everyday cases of social separation and proximity and the politically effective distribution of power and resources in the locality.
