"Women and unskilled workers often lack time for vocational training or career development. Empirical examples of working-life time accounts are used to examine the extent to which women and workers in lower occupational positions are equally able to save up time and realize paid leaves for training and better work-life balance. There is evidence that working-life time accounts enhance rather than diminish existing gender and job inequalities over the course of life. These findings call for both, the improvement of working-life time accounts as well as their expansion through additional working-time option." (author's abstract)... view less
