(Autorenreferat)... view less

"'Unified - but still divided' - so people described the situation about the 'internal Unification' in Germany after the formal Unification process. But it is indeed important for the integration in Germany, that there will be the same political attitudes toward the (newly) political system. One majar political attitude toward the political system is the confidence people have in their major political institutions. After there were more differences than common ground in 1990, the paper investigate whether these differences are still present, whether they are even greater or whether there took a real politcal acculturation place. The empirical analyse showed that the political attitudes in East and West toward almost all political institutions under investigation are converged. Even if there is a townturn in political trust in the West, there are more common ground than differences today in Germany. However, it is not easy to say weather there is already a common political culture in Germany - but further research will show, whether not only the formal but also the political integration was successful."
