'The present investigation is connected to the well known fact in public opinion research that the use of logically equivalent terms in question phrasing can lead to a considerable impact an interviewees' answering behavior. In a series of split ballot experiments the question of whether this also holds true in the case of numerical equivalents is pursued. By means of systematic variations of question patterns, wording, content and dimensions of quantities, this article tests whether the application of different notations of amount (numerical equivalents) could lead to different assessments of facts or circumstances that are connected with these nomenclatures.'
