Review: Kurt Greiner (2024): Lehrbuch Experimentelle Psychotherapiewissenschaft

Abstract

The "Lehrbuch Experimentelle Psychotherapiewissenschaft" by Kurt GREINER offers a comprehensive introduction to a new type of research discipline, that is based on psychotherapeutic, scientific-theoretical, and artistic-creative considerations. Based on the constructive realism of Friedrich G. WALLNER (1992), GREINER develops four analysis programs for the reflexive investigation of psychotherapeutic knowledge systems. He combines experimental trans-contextualization with imaginative-hermeneutic methods and argues for a consistent paradigm pluralism in psychotherapy research. GREINER presents theoretical foundations and methodological innovations in addition to numerous insights into the practical application of these approaches. In my review, I analyze GREINER's central theses and methods, acknowledge his contribution to academic psychotherapy, and critically discuss the connectivity of his approach to international qualitative research.

Das Lehrbuch "Experimentelle Psychotherapiewissenschaft" von Kurt GREINER bietet eine umfassende Einführung in eine neuartige Forschungsdisziplin, die sich aus psychotherapiewissenschaftlichen, wissenschaftstheoretischen und künstlerisch-kreativen Überlegungen speist. Basierend auf dem konstruktiven Realismus von Friedrich G. WALLNER (1992) entwickelt GREINER vier Analyseprogramme zur reflexiven Untersuchung psychotherapeutischer Wissenssysteme. Dabei verbindet er experimentelle Trans-Kontextualisation mit imaginativ-hermeneutischen Methoden und plädiert für einen konsequenten Paradigmenpluralismus in der Psychotherapieforschung. In dem Lehrbuch werden nicht nur theoretische Grundlagen und methodische Innovationen vorgestellt, sondern es bietet auch zahlreiche Einblicke in die praktische Anwendung dieser Ansätze. In meiner Rezension werden die zentralen Thesen und Methoden GREINERs analysiert, ihr Beitrag zur akademischen Psychotherapie gewürdigt und die Anschlussfähigkeit seines Ansatzes an die internationale qualitative Forschung kritisch diskutiert.
