Um Studierende beim Erwerb wissenschaftlicher Schreibkompetenz zu unterstützen, setzt das Historische Seminar der Frankfurter Goethe-Universität seit dem Sommersemester 2017 Texttutor*innen ein. Das Programm wurde auf der Grundlage des Writing-Fellows-Projekts entwickelt und fachspezifisch adaptiert. Ebenso wie Writing Fellows geben die Texttutor*innen Feedback auf im Seminarverlauf zu schreibende Texte und bieten ein Beratungsgespräch an. Sie werden aber vom Fach rekrutiert (und bezahlt), nicht vom Schreibzentrum, zu dem der Kontakt gleichwohl sehr eng ist. Der Beitrag schildert auf der Grundlage mehrerer Befragungen die Ausgangssituation und den Unterstützungsbedarf der Studierenden, stellt das Programm vor und präsentiert die Ergebnisse wiederum auf der Grundlage umfangreicher Erhebungen.... view less

To support students’ writing, the Historical Institute of Frankfurt University established a program of texttutoring. It is based on the model of writing fellows, but is adapted according to the specific needs of the History Department. The main difference consists in the recruiting and financing of the tutors. Both is not done by the writing centre, as is the case for the writing fellows, but by the History Department itself. The fact that tutors and students both study history has turned out to be helpful for new students, as they are familiar with conventions and terms in history. Contact to the writing centre is close though, as the tutors receive their training in the writing centre. Like writing fellows, the tutors give feedback on two writing assignments during the course. The article describes the situation and the increasing diversity of students at the beginning of their programme, based on a poll of new students. The article then explains the way texttutoring is integrated into the first courses and shows the benefits for students, for the tutors themselves and for the teachers.... view less
