In der Dissertation untersucht der Autor auf Basis der PAELL-Studie, wie die Idee des lebenslangen Lernens die Praxis von Pädagoginnen und Pädagogen beeinflusst. Er verknüpft qualitative und quantitative Methoden, um diese pädagogischen Wissensbestände zu erfassen und miteinander zu vergleichen. Im Fokus stehen drei Gruppen, für die das lebenslange Lernen eine hohe Orientierungskraft hat: Praktikerinnen und Praktiker des Elementarbereichs, der beruflichen Bildung und der Erwachsenenbildung. Die Analyse leistet einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Weiterentwicklung von Theorie und Empirie des lebenslangen Lernens und verbindet den bildungspolitischen Diskurs mit der pädagogischen Praxis.... view less

Lifelong learning is considered to be an important societal issue both by educational policy makers as well as in the educational sciences. While the task for processes of institutionalisation of lifelong learning is mainly ascribed to those working in pedagogy, the question of what kind of meaning they attach to this subject in their pedagogical work is hardly explored. Based on data from the PAELL-Study the dissertation seeks to explore the perspectives of pedagogues on and their knowledge of lifelong learning. Combining both qualitative and quantitative methods allows for comparing and comprehending the body of knowledge held by employees from the elementary sector, vocational education and adult education in detail. The study does not only highlight the orientational role of this topic as a strong paradigm for lifelong learning in essential sectors of the educational system, but also demonstrates important results for the collectivization of pedagogues.... view less
