The phenomenon of dropout in initial integration in the context of vocational rehabilitation has been recorded primarily quantitatively so far; at the same time, the topic in dual vocational training is intensively discussed as "premature contract termination". There is a lack of differentiated qualitative analyses concerning the reasons of a problematic dropout "downwards". This volume aims to contribute to closing this research gap. Based on an overview of theory and research, it first develops its own theoretical model of dropout processes in this specific field of vocational education and training. This is the research guideline for the explorative study in a selected vocational training centre as an institution for vocational rehabilitation. Based on a retrospective analysis of dropout in this institution, an attempt is made to filter predictive factors for identificating the risk of dropout in vocational rehabilitation. Following this aim, a screening instrument was developed and tested for the first time. In the discussion of the results, specifics of dropout in vocational rehabilitation are worked out and pedagogical recommendations for action concerning prevention as well as intervention are derived. The conclusions thus also represent suggestions for further development in other vocational rehabilitation institutions and beyond.... view less
