Diskurs, Subjekt und Handlungsmacht. Zur Verknüpfung von Diskurs- und Biografieforschung mithilfe des Konzepts der Artikulation

Abstract

Während in der Biografieforschung lange Zeit der Einfluss von Diskursen auf biografische Erzählungen nicht berücksichtigt wurde, wird in Diskursanalysen häufig die subjektkonstituierende Wirkung von Diskursen vernachlässigt. In diesem Beitrag soll es daher auf theoretischer Ebene um die Frage gehen, wie Diskurs und Subjekt zusammengedacht werden können. Hierzu soll das Konzept der Artikulation von Stuart HALL vorgestellt werden. Stuart HALL hat sich vor allem ab Beginn der 1990er Jahre mit Fragen der (kulturellen) Identität auseinandergesetzt und hierbei ein Subjektverständnis entwickelt, das es ermöglicht, Subjekte nicht nur als Effekte von Diskursen zu verstehen, aber dennoch Diskurse in der Subjektkonzeption zu berücksichtigen. Er wurde im deutschsprachigen Raum bisher sowohl in der Biografie- als auch in der Diskursforschung wenig rezipiert, doch sein Konzept der Artikulation könnte möglicherweise eine Brücke von der Diskurs- zur Biografieforschung schlagen und auch für empirische Arbeiten anschlussfähig gemacht werden.

For a significant period of time biographical research did not focus on the influence of discourses on biographical narratives. In contrast, discourse analysis often disregarded the subject-constituting impact of discourses. This article deals with the theoretical question of how to work with both: discourse and subject. Therefore, I will introduce Stuart HALL's concept of articulation. Since the early 1990's HALL has been working on questions of (cultural) identity. In this context he developed an understanding of subjects that enables them not only to be seen as effects of discourses, but also allows focusing on discourses in subject conceptions. Neither biographical research nor discourse analysis In German speaking countries have embraced the work of HALL. But his concept of articulation could link biographical research and discourse analysis, and could also be used for further empirical work.

En la investigación biográfica no se abordó, durante un período considerable, la influencia de los discursos sobre las narrativas biográficas. En contraste, el análisis de discurso ignoró frecuentemente el impacto de los discursos en el sujeto constituyente. Este artículo aborda la pregunta teórica acerca de cómo trabajar con ambos: discurso y sujeto. Por consiguiente, introduciré el concepto de articulación de Stuart HALL. Desde los tempranos 1990's HALL ha estado trabajando sobre cuestiones de identidad (cultural). En este contexto, HALL desarrolló una comprensión de los sujetos que capacita no solo a verlos como efectos de discursos sino también que permite enfocar los discursos en las concepciones de sujetos. El trabajo de HALL no ha sido reconocido ni por la investigación geográfica ni el análisis del discurso en los países de habla hispana. Aunque su concepto de articulación puede vincular la investigación biográfica y el análisis del discurso y puede ser útil para futuro trabajo empírico.
