Der Beitrag befasst sich vor allem auf empirischer Ebene mit Formen des Vergessens, die in narrativen Interviews zu finden sind. Vorangestellt werden theoretische Überlegungen zur begrifflichen Bandbreite von Vergessen und methodische Hinweise zur Erfassung von Vergessen in narrativen Interviews. Im Mittelpunkt stehen drei Fälle, an denen Beispiele für das Umgehen mit Vergessen aufgezeigt werden. Insgesamt können die Kategorien Nicht-Vergessen-Können, Nicht-Wissen-Wollen, Verdrängen, Betäuben und Überschreiben aus dem empirischen Material herausgearbeitet und in ihrer Bedeutung für die Biographieforschung dargestellt werden.... view less

The article deals primarily on an empirical level with forms of forgetting that can be found in narrative interviews. It is preceded by theoretical considerations on the conceptual range of forgetting and methodological notes on capturing forgetting in narrative interviews. The focus is on three cases, which are used to show examples of how forgetting is dealt with. Overall, the categories of not being able to forget, not wanting to know, repressing, numbing and overwriting can be worked out from the empirical material and their significance for biographical research presented.... view less
