The extraction of natural and mineral resources, along with the development of the armed conflict has forced various ethnic communities, including that of the Emberá Dobida people - from the State of Chocó, Colombia - to be located in an urban context, specifically in the city of Quibdó, its capital.During this process, their ancestral knowledge begins to be configured once it makes contact with the Western people. The methodological approach to this research is qualitative, due to the in-depth approach to data, from participants' life experience, who belong to an indigenous community; specifically, the Emberá Dobida people. But also, there are some manifestations of resistance that seek to keep inplace that ancestral knowledge, which can be adjusted to the conditions of the new territory.... view less
