Abstract

Der Band von MORSE, SWANSON und KUZEL bietet einen hilfreichen Rahmen, um qualitative Forschung Evidenz basiert zu betreiben. Ausgehend von Konzepten von Evidenz und von Dimensionen qualitativer und quantitativer Forschung, argumentieren die Autorinnen und Autoren der einzelnen Kapitel – eingedenk der bekannten Spannung zwischen qualitativer und quantitativer Forschung – für einen Ansatz Evidenzbasierter Medizin, mit dem sich qualitative und quantitative Ansätze integrieren lassen. Das Buch ist in fünf Teile untergliedert: Behandelt werden (a) der Charakter von Evidenz, (b) der Charakter des Fragens, (c) der Charakter von Standards, (d) der Charakter von Interpretation und Analyse und (e) der Charakter der Anwendung von Forschung. Dabei wird vor allem auf Diskussionen um die Bedeutung von Evidenz in der Evidenzbasierten Medizin zurückgegriffen. Indem die Autor(inn)en zeigen, dass qualitative Forschung wichtige Beiträge für die klinische Praxis leisten kann, erweitern sie den aktuellen Diskurs in diesem Forschungsfeld. Das Buch ist für Praxis, Lehre und Forschung gleichermaßen nützlich: Kliniker(innen) können profitieren, indem sie verstehen, welche Rolle qualitative Forschung in ihrer Praxis einnehmen kann. Angewendet in der Lehre bietet das Buch einen leicht verständlichen Zugang zu den traditionellen Aufgaben und Herausforderungen qualitativer Forschung. Für die Forschung leistet es einen Beitrag zur Diskussion von Evidenzbasierten Forschungsansätzen; es ist für forschende Noviz(inn)en leicht lesbar, erfahrene Lesende fordert es heraus, darüber nachzudenken, was in der Praxis tatsächlich als Evidenz zählt.

MORSE, SWANSON, and KUZEL's book provides a useful framework for exploring qualitative research from the vantage point of evidence. By providing perspectives on evidence and dimensions of qualitative and quantitative research, the chapter authors use well known tensions between qualitative and quantitative research to argue for an approach to evidence-based medicine that integrates both approaches as well as experience as useful sources of evidence. The text is divided into five parts that address the nature of evidence, the nature of questions, the nature of standards, the nature of analysis and interpretation, and the nature of utilization. The value of this book comes from the timely discussion of what counts as evidence in terms of evidence-based medicine. By arguing that qualitative research provides important contributions to clinical practice, the authors broaden the dialogue about the evidence in evidence-based medicine. The book has utility in the areas of practice, education and research. Clinicians can use the discussions as a springboard to understanding the role of qualitative research in practice. El libro de MORSE, SWANSON y KUZEL ofrece un marco de ayuda para realizar investigación cualitativa basada en evidencias. Partiendo del concepto de Evidencia y de las dimensiones: cualitativa y cuantitativa de la investigación, las autoras y los autores argumentan el particular capítulo ( teniendo presente la conocida tensión entre investigación cualitativa y cuantitativa) sobre un principio de medicina basado en la evidencia con el que pueden integrarse principios cualitativos y cuantitativos. El libro está dividido en 5 partes en ellas se tratan los siguientes temas: (a) el carácter de evidencia, (b) el carácter del preguntar, (c) el carácter de estándar, (d) el carácter de interpretación y análisis y (e) el carácter de aplicación de la investigación. Se recurre ante todo a discusiones sobre el significado del concepto Evidencia en la medicina basada en la misma. Los autores/as muestran que la investigación cualitativa puede brindar importantes contribuciones para la clínica, al tiempo que extienden el actual discurso en este campo de investigación. El libro es útil tanto para la praxis, la enseñanza y la investigación: los clínicos pueden obtener ganancia en tanto entiendan qué rol puede cobrar la investigación cualitativa en su praxis.
