The latest extractive boom, which to a large extent has been the driving force behind the country's economic growth, has brought with it serious governance complications that are manifested in recurring socio-environmental problems. The rejection of the central government's mining policies in extractive territories is significant and exacerbates the disaffection of local populations with respect to state policies, which once again puts the current development model at risk. Damonte's essay analyzes the shortcomings of these policies and opens the discussion on the central issues that would allow a more effective presence of the State in extractive territories.... view less

El último boom extractivo, que en buena medida ha sido el motor del crecimiento económico del país, ha traído consigo graves complicaciones de gobernabilidad que se manifiestan en recurrentes problemáticas socioambientales. El rechazo a las políticas mineras del Gobierno central en los territorios con extracción es significativo y agudiza la desafección de las poblaciones locales respecto a las políticas de Estado, lo que nuevamente pone en riesgo el modelo actual de desarrollo.
