Der Beitrag liefert eine Literaturschau zur Gruppe westafrikanischer Muslimas mit Hochschulbildung und zum beruflichen Future Making studierter Muslimas in der Region. Basierend auf der Analyse vor allem sozialwissenschaftlicher Arbeiten werden Besonderheiten dieser kleinen, zugleich wachsenden Gruppe herausgearbeitet. Es wird argumentiert, dass sich studierende wie berufstätige Muslimas aufgrund religiös legitimierter Genderrollen in verschiedenen westafrikanischen Kontexten in paradoxen Situationen wiederfinden, die sich als schwer aufzulösende "Zwickmühlen" beschreiben lassen. The article provides a literature review on the group of Muslim women with University education in West Africa and their professional future making. Based on the analysis of mainly social science studies, special features of this small but growing group are identified. It is argued that in diverse West African societies, Muslim women with University education find themselves in paradoxical situations that can be described as "quandaries" that are difficult to resolve.
