(Un-) political ethics, (un-) ethical politics

Abstract

Ethik und Politik werden normalerweise als unabhängige Felder gedacht, die sich nicht mischen, das heißt als Felder, die wenig miteinander zu tun haben. In diesem Beitrag beschreibe ich vier faktische Fiktionen, die aufzeigen, wie Forschungsethik und -politik an der Universität miteinander verbunden sind. Es scheint, als ob die Politik nur zur Herstellung und Erhaltung der Kontrolle von Forschungsprozessen und -produkten dient: selbst die Evaluation der Forschungsethik in Projektvorschlägen impliziert Machtpolitik.

Ethics and politics are normally con­sidered domains that do not mix, in fact, domains that have little to do with one another. In this article, I provide four factual fictions that show how at the university, research ethics and politics are intertwined. Politics appears to be used for the sole purpose of constructing and maintaining con­trol over the research process and its products. Ultimately, even ethics reviews of proposed research studies are caught up in the politics of power.

Generalmente se considera que la ética y la política son dominios que no se mezclan, de hecho, son dominios que tienen poco que ver uno con el otro. En este artículo, presento cuatro ficciones verídicas que muestran como se entremezclan, en la universidad, la investigación de la ética y de la política. Pareciera que la política es utilizada con el único propósito de construir y mantener el control sobre el proceso de investigación y sus productos. Incluso las revisiones éticas de las propuestas de investigación están signadas por la política del poder.
