Review: Birgit Griese & Hedwig Rosa Griesehop (2007). Biographische Fallarbeit. Theorie, Methode und Praxisrelevanz

Abstract

The main topic of this book is the use of qualitative methods in what has become known as "reconstructive social pedagogy". "Reconstructive social pedagogy" is usually seen as a method but the authors show how to look at it from a different point of view. They perceive "reconstructive social pedagogy" as a paradigm named "narrative identity" and thereby create the opportunity to apply it in different contexts, e.g. in social work or social work science. They provide theoretical examples and explain possible methods by which to elaborate the paradigm. The examples they provide on how to look on narrative interview notes make this publication interesting not only for practitioners of social work but also for scientists and social work teachers. The authors use the conclusion to discuss central considerations, procedures and possible problems.

Mit dem Analysekonzept der narrativen Identität stellen GRIESE und GRIESEHOP in dieser Veröffentlichung ein praxistaugliches Auswertungsinstrument der biografischen Fallarbeit vor. Damit ist das Buch primär an die Sozialarbeitspraxis adressiert, mit dem vorgestellten Paradigma der narrativen Identität werden aber auch enge Verbindungen zur Sozialarbeitsforschung geschaffen. Im Buch wird zunächst in reichhaltiger Art und Weise das Paradigma der narrativen Identität begrifflich und theoretisch präzisiert. Das Analysedesign wird von anderen abgegrenzt und seine Eigenart der engen Einbindung der Theorie wird hervorgehoben. Ein großes Gewicht liegt auf praxisnahen Beispielen, die nachvollziehbar die Forschungsstrategie veranschaulichen. Abschließend werden die zentralen Prämissen zusammengeführt, und die Analysemethode und Probleme werden kritisch besprochen. Insgesamt bietet die Veröffentlichung einen fundierten theoriegeleiteten und praxisorientierten Einstieg in das Arbeiten im Paradigma der narrativen Identität.

El tema central de este libro es el uso de los métodos cualitativos en lo que se ha conocido como "pedagogía social reconstructiva". La "pedagogía social reconstructiva" es vista usualmente como un método pero los autores muestran como observarla desde un punto de vista diferente. Ellos perciben a la "pedagogía social reconstructiva" como un paradigma llamado "identidad narrativa" y allí crean la oportunidad de aplicarlo en diferentes contextos, por ejemplo en trabajo social o ciencia del trabajo social. Proveen ejemplos teóricos y explican posibles métodos a través de los cuales elaborar el paradigma. Los ejemplos que proporcionan sobre como observar las notas de las entrevistas narrativas hacen esta publicación interesante no sólo para practicantes de trabajo social sino para científicos y profesores de trabajo social. Se utiliza la conclusión para discutir consideraciones centrales, procedimientos y posibles problemas.
