Reflexiv beschreiben: Die Ethnographische Collage als Auswertungs- und Darstellungsstrategie

Abstract

Reflexivität gilt in der qualitativen und vor allem in der ethnographischen Forschung als ein Anspruch und eine Anforderung an die Forschenden, die jeweiligen Prozesse von Erkenntnis in ihren Entstehungsbedingungen kritisch zu hinterfragen und zu überprüfen. Dabei wurde insbesondere die Ethnographie einer Methodendiskussion unterzogen, so dass spätestens seit der Writing-Culture-Debatte Ethnograph*innen Prozesse von Erkenntnis und die eigene Positionierung zum Gegenstand reflexiver Auseinandersetzungen machen, einhergehend mit Suchbewegungen nach neuen Formen des Schreibens und der Ergebnispräsentation. Der Beitrag setzt an dem Anspruch von Reflexion an und stellt den Ansatz der Ethnographischen Collage als Auswertungs- und Darstellungsstrategie vor. Die Standortgebundenheit als Forschende*r, Verständnisse sowie Verhältnisse von Theorie und Empirie, die Verbindung von Daten im Analyseprozess sowie die möglichen Formen der Darstellung von Forschungsergebnissen sind einige der zentralen Aspekte, welche reflexiv in den Forschungs- nund Erkenntnisprozess einbezogen werden. Ziel der Ethnographischen Collage ist es, durch Beschreibung und Darstellung Re-Analysen zu ermöglichen und damit Wissenschaft zugleich in ihrer Konstruktionslogik zugänglich zu machen. Eine Ethnographische Collage versteht sich als Auswertungs- und Darstellungsstrategie, die am Anspruch von Reflexivität als Beobachtung und Beschreibung von Infrastrukturen des Forschens ansetzt und sich dabei an einem kontextanalytischen Vorgehen orientiert.

In qualitative and especially in ethnographic research, reflexivity is considered a claim and a requirement for researchers to critically question and examine the respective processes of cognition in their formation conditions. In this context, ethnography in particular has been subjected to a methodological discussion, so that since the Writing Culture debate at the latest, ethnographers have made processes of cognition and their own positioning the subject of reflexive debates, accompanied by search movements for new forms of writing and the presentation of results. The article starts with the claim of reflection and introduces the approach of the Ethnographic Collage as a strategy of evaluation and presentation. The location-boundedness as a researcher, understandings as well as relations of theory and empiricism, the connection of data in the analysis process as well as the forms of the presentation of research results are some of the central aspects, which are reflexively included in the research and cognition process. The aim of the Ethnographic Collage is to enable re-analyses through description and representation and thereby to make science accessible in its construction logic at the same time. An Ethnographic Collage is understood as a strategy of evaluation and representation that is based on the claim of reflexivity as observation and description of the infrastructures of research and is oriented towards a context-analytical approach.
