Aesthetically Pleasing, but it's (not) Research: Responding Poetically to a Question of Methodology

Abstract

Indem ich mir den textuellen Raum und den Moment vergegenwärtige, in denen ich mich als "Randfigur" in der Forschung erlebte, versuche ich einen kollektiven Dialog zu eröffnen mittels einer künstlerischen "Wiedergabe" dieses Prozesses. Im Lichte aktueller, dichterischer und performativer Epistemologien versuche ich diesen Prozess in einer Weise zu öffnen, dass multiple Stimmen sichtbar werden auch als Störungen herrschender wissenschaftlicher Diskurse und Suchbewegungen, die einen Blick auf die Potenziale der eigenen Vergangenheit und Zukunft ermöglichen. Indem ich mit Worten und Raum spiele, werden interpretative Optionen sichtbar – verstanden als Einladung, mittels einer improvisierenden Performance teilzuhaben an der chaotischen Arbeit des (Nicht-) Wissens.

Moving across the textual landscape of a (re)membered moment of finding myself a "researcher on the margins," I seek to engage in collective dialogue through a poetic rendering of process and response. Through the motions of present, poetic, and performative epistemologies I seek to create openings where multiple voices might begin to shift or disrupt the meanings of (re)search, inviting us to embrace the possibility in what we have been and what we might be(come). As words and space perform upon the page, room exists for interpretation—inviting multiple voices to enter into an improvisational performance through the messy work of (un)knowing.

Recorriendo el paisaje textual de uno de mis recordados momentos como "investigador marginal", trato de participar en el diálogo colectivo a través de una versión poética de proceso y respuesta. A través del uso de epistemologías presentes, poéticas, y performativas, trato de crear aperturas donde múltiples voces pueden empezar a cambiar o afectar a los significados de la búsqueda/investigación, invitándonos a que aceptemos la posibilidad de lo que hemos sido y lo que podríamos ser. Cuando las palabras y el espacio se realizan en la página, existe lugar para la interpretación, invitando a las voces múltiples a entrar en un performance de improvisación a través del trabajo desordenado de lo (des)conocido.
