Abstract

Das vorliegende Buch zur "Practice of Qualitative Research" führt in eine Mixtur aus praktischer Anleitung, theoretischer Bestimmung des Gegenstandes, Reflexion von Forschungspraktiken und postmoderner Selbstbestimmung der Autorinnen, sowie in eine Beschreibung qualitativer Forschung als selbstreflexiver Prozess innerhalb der verschiedenen Disziplinen der Human- und Sozialwissenschaften ein. Mittels kreativer, an vielen Stellen gut lesbarer Darstellungsweise verweist das Buch auf methodologische Zusammenhänge und gibt gleichzeitig einen Überblick über die im US-Amerikanischen Raum verbreiteten Methoden qualitativer Sozialforschung. Dass sich das Buch ausschließlich im Kontext des US-Amerikanischen Mainstreams der Qualitativen Forschung lesen und verstehen lässt, sollte unbedingt berücksichtigt werden.

The book, "Practice of Qualitative Research", is an introduction to qualitative research. It is a mixture of practical instruction for doing qualitative research, a theoretical framing of the subject, reflections of researchers about their research projects, and a post modern self-positioning of the authors. This means the book also emphasizes the self-reflexive process for each researcher working in a qualitative research project within the social and human sciences. In a highly creative manner and readable style, the authors lead us through methodological assumptions and introduce the US-American discourse of qualitative social research—which is, it has to be said, the discourse within this book should be understood.

El libro The Practice of Qualitative Research es una introducción a la investigación cualitativa. Es una combinación de formación práctica para realizar investigación cualitativa, un encuadre teórico del tema, reflexiones de investigadores sobre sus proyectos de investigación y un posicionamiento post-moderno de los autores. Esto significa que el libro también enfatiza el proceso autorreflexivo del trabajo de cada investigador en un proyecto de investigación cualitativa dentro de las ciencias sociales y humanas. De una manera muy creativa y con un estilo de lectura ameno, los autores nos llevan a través de los presupuestos metodológicos y presentan el discurso de la investigación social cualitativa estadounidense – que es, también debe decirse, el discurso en el que ha de ser entendido este libro.
