Review: Semra Çelik (2006). Grenzen und Grenzgänger. Diskursive Positionierungen im Kontext türkischer Einwanderung

Abstract

Davon ausgehend, dass Diskurse umkämpft sind und sich das Subjekt inmitten dieser Kämpfe um Wahrheit und Macht befindet, fragt die Arbeit von Semra ÇELIK nach den Grenzen und Möglichkeiten diskursiver Positionierungen türkischer MigrantInnen im Kontext nationaler Identitätsdiskurse in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. In Anlehnung an die FOUCAULTsche Diskurstheorie und die Kritische Diskursanalyse nach Siegfried JÄGER bemüht sich diese empirisch angelegte Arbeit um eine Verknüpfung von Diskurs und Subjektpositionierung. Es wurden acht Tiefeninterviews mit türkischen MigrantInnen geführt und mit der Kritischen Diskursanalyse auf Selbstbilder hin untersucht, um jeweils herauszufinden, welche diskursiven Angebote im Kontext nationaler Diskurse nutzbar sind, welche beansprucht werden und welche nicht zugänglich sind bzw. verwehrt bleiben. Die als Pilotstudie angelegte Untersuchung arbeitet in der Analyse heraus, dass die Interviewten im ambivalenten Raum von Ermöglichung auf der einen und Begrenzung auf der anderen Seite durchaus die ihnen diskursiv zugeschriebenen Identitäten (re-) produzieren, aber sie sich gleichzeitig auch immer wieder Spielräume – Räume des Hybriden – erschließen, die sich jenseits starrer Bilder und nationaler Diskurse bewegen. Die Studie bietet durch ihre methodische Anlage, in der Kritische Diskursanalyse und Interviews miteinander verknüpft werden, interessante Ansatzpunkte für die Erforschung des Zusammenhangs zwischen Diskurs und Subjektpositionierung. Jedoch wäre eine Vertiefung der Forschung insbesondere im Bereich der Analyse der Diskurse, die in Verbindung mit den Subjektpositionierungen gesetzt werden, sowie der theoretischen Grundlegung des Begriffes der Hybridität der Aussagefähigkeit der Studie zuträglich gewesen.

The research project of Semra ÇELIK acts on the assumption that discourses are contested and that subjects are positioned in the middle of struggles around truth and power. Semra ÇELIK raises the question of the possibilities and limitations of the discursive positioning of Turkish immigrants within the context of discourses of national identities in Germany. Following FOUCAULT's discourse theory and Siegfried JÄGER's critical discourse analysis, in her empirical work ÇELIK makes a contribution towards the understanding of the entanglement of discourse and subject positioning. She conducted eight in-depth interviews with Turkish immigrants. By means of critical discourse analysis she analysed them with regard to self images in order to find out which discursive choices are available within the context of national discourses, which are drawn upon and which are not accessible or are refused. The research which is constructed as a pilot study shows that the interviewees—within an ambivalent space of enabling and limiting—(re-)produce the discursively ascribed identities but at the same time open up scopes—hybrid spaces—which are positioned beyond fixed images and national discourses. By means of the methodological combination of discourse analysis and interviews, the study offers interesting starting points for conducting research on the entanglement of discourse and subject positioning. Nevertheless, a deeper analysis—especially concerning the analysis of the discourses that are set into relation with the subject positioning as well as a theoretical foundation of the concept of hybridity—would have been beneficial for the informational value of the study.

El proyecto de investigación de Semra ÇELIK emerge sobre la asunción de que los discursos son contestados y los sujetos posicionados en el seno de luchas de poder y por la verdad. La autora plantea las posibilidades y limitaciones del posicionamiento discursivo de los inmigrantes turcos en el contexto de las identidades nacionales en Alemania. En su trabajo empírico, ÇELIK recupera la teoría del discurso de FOUCAULT's y el análisis del discurso crítico de Siegfried JÄGER's para comprender la imbricación del discurso y el posicionamiento del sujeto. La autora ha realizado ocho entrevistas en profundidad con inmigrantes turcos. Gracias al análisis del discurso crítico, analiza tales entrevistas prestando atención a la auto-imagen, con la clara intención de encontrar qué opciones discursivas están disponibles en el contexto de los discursos nacionales – qué opciones se esbozan, qué otras están accesibles o se rechazan. La investigación está planteada como un estudio piloto y tiene la virtud de mostrar que los entrevistados – en un espacio ambivalente que posibilita y constriñe (re-produce las identidades adscritas discursivamente pero al mismo tiempo abre horizontes – espacios híbridos – que se posicionan más allá de las imágenes fijadas y los discursos nacionales. A través de la combinación metodológica de las entrevistas y el análisis del discurso, el estudio de la autora ofrece puntos de partida interesantes para realizar una investigación sobre la imbricación del discurso y el posicionamiento del sujeto. No obstante, una mayor profundidad en el análisis de los discursos que se ponen en relación con el posicionamiento del sujeto y una más amplia fundamentación teórica del concepto de hibridación habrían sido más que recomendables para el valor informativo del estudio.
