Assemblage - Constructing the Social in Empirical Cultural Research

Abstract

Dieser Beitrag verortet diese Ausgabe in ihrem Entstehungskontext des Master-Seminars "Assemblage - Constructing the Social for Empirical Cultural Research" am Institut für Empirische Kulturwissenschaft und gibt einen Einstieg in die geführten Debatten um theoretische Perspektiven und praktische Anwendung. Vor diesem Hintergrund ist eine Heuristik für kulturanthropologische Assemblage Forschung entstanden, die sich mit folgenden Fragen beschäftigt: Was sind die Kernelemente (erkenntnistheoretische Objekte) von Assemblagen? Von welchen Formen von Agency ist die Rede? Was bringt Assemblagen zusammen und für wie lange? Wie können Assemblagen in der ethnographischen Forschung greifbar und analysierbar gemacht werden? Wo fängt eine Assemblage an, wo hört sie auf?

This article situates this volume in the context of its genesis: the Master's seminar "Assemblage - Constructing the Social for Empirical Cultural Research" at the Institute for Anthropological Studies in Culture and History and provides an introduction to the debates conducted around theoretical perspectives and practical applications. Against this background, a heuristic for cultural anthropological assemblage research has emerged that addresses the following questions: What are the core elements (epistemological objects) of assemblages? Which forms of agency are we talking about? What brings assemblages together and for how long? How can assemblages be made tangible and analyzable in ethnographic research? Where does an assemblage start, and where does it end?
