Der Beitrag nimmt eine intersektionalitätstheoretische Perspektive ein, um die spezifische Verflechtung der sozialen Kategorien Geschlecht, Ethnizität und Religion und deren Auswirkung auf die Handlungsspielräume junger muslimischer Studentinnen in Malaysia im Kontext ihrer Bildungsbiografien herauszuarbeiten. Dafür wurden zwölf narrative Interviews mit jungen Musliminnen in Malaysia geführt und in Anlehnung an die Methode des Szenischen Verstehens nach Lorenzer ausgewertet. Zwei der Interviews werden in Form von Einzelfällen vorgestellt. Sie zeigen auf, dass die soziale Kategorie Religion eine relevante Sinnressource sowie Legitimationsquelle für das soziale Handeln der jungen Frauen im Kontext ihrer Bildungsbiografien darstellt.... view less

Intersectional perspectives on educationally successful female Muslim students in Malaysia This article presents the interrelationships between the socially constructed categories of gender, ethnicity and religion - which simultaneously have an impact on the educational biographies of Malay-Muslim female students in Malaysia - in the context of the analytical framework of intersectionality. The data used were retrieved from twelve narrative interviews with Muslim female students which were analyzed using Lorenzer's method of hermeneutical cultural understanding. Two interviews are presented in the form of case studies. The article demonstrates that the social category of religion is a relevant resource of meaning as well as a source of legitimacy for the young women’s social actions in the context of their education and educational biographies.... view less
