Der Beitrag basiert auf qualitativen empirischen Ergebnissen, die Emotionen einen zentralen Stellenwert innerhalb politischer Arbeit zuschreiben. Um sich im politischen Feld zu positionieren, üben Politiker_innen Emotionsarbeit aus, indem sie einerseits Gefühle in Wähler_innen evozieren und andererseits eigene Gefühle sozial regulieren. Insbesondere Politikerinnen stehen dabei vor der zusätzlichen Herausforderung, ihre Gefühle an die noch immer bestehende vergeschlechtlichte Ordnung von Emotionen anzupassen. Mit dem Aufkommen von Social Media verlagert sich politische Arbeit zunehmend in die virtuelle Welt. Social Media wirkt sich zwar positiv auf den politischen Erfolg aus, verschärft aber gleichzeitig bestehende Arbeitsbelastungen und ruft neue hervor. This article is based on qualitative empirical results that prove the central importance of emotions in political work. Politicians position themselves in the political field with the help of emotional work by evoking feelings in voters on the one hand and regulating their own feelings socially on the other. Particularly women face the specific challenge of adjusting their emotions to the still existing gendered order of emotions. With the rise of social media, political work increasingly takes place in the virtual world. Social Media has a positive effect on political success, but at the same time it reinforces existing workloads and creates new ones.
