Considerando a relevância da motivação e da criatividade sobre a aprendizagem e a escassez de estudos brasileiros sobre estes importantes fenômenos, este estudo teve por objetivo investigar a relação entre a motivação para aprender e os estilos de pensar e criar. A amostra foi composta por 190 estudantes do Ensino Médio, 125 mulheres e 65 homens, idade média de 15 anos, residindo em diferentes cidades paulistas. Os instrumentos utilizados foram as escalas “Motivação para a Aprendizagem Escolar” e “Estilos de Pensar e Criar”. A correlação de Pearson utilizada para comparar os fatores das duas escalas apontou relações significativas entre os fatores de motivação relacionados com o envolvimento e persistência nas atividades, o sentimento de competência e valorização das atividades com várias dimensões dos estilos de pensar e criar. Os resultados indicaram a proximidade dos conceitos de motivação e criatividade, demonstrando a necessidade de maior aprofundamento de estudos sobre estes complexos fenômenos de modo a oferecer informações relevantes para a educação e a aprendizagem escolar.... view less

The importance of motivation and creativity for learning has not received much attention in Brazilian studies. Therefore the purpose of this study was to investigate the possible relationships between motivation for learning and thinking styles. The sample was composed of 190 high school students, 125 females and 65 males, mean age of 15, residing in different cities located in São Paulo state (Brazil). The instruments utilized were the scales Motivation for School Learning and Creative and Thinking Styles. Pearson’s correlations indicated significant relationships among various motivation factors, such as involvement and persistence in school activities, competence feelings, and self actualization with the thinking and creative styles. These results indicated the proximity of motivation and creativity concepts and demonstrated the need for more studies relating these complex constructs in order to offer important information for education and school learning.... view less
