Wir argumentieren, dass Catherine Hakims Konzept des "erotischen Kapitals" keinen analytischen Zugang zu Prozessen der Paarformation eröffnet, sondern den vorherrschenden Imperativ einer Bedienung männlicher Attraktivitäts- und Verhaltenserwartungen bekräftigt. We contend that Catherine Hakim's concept of 'erotic capital' does not offer any advantage in analyzing the process of couple formation, but rather enforces the socially dominant imperative of appealing to male expectations of attractiveness and behaviour. Pierre Bourdieu's relational research programme, on the other hand, enables both a differentiated conception of the implications of physicality on the partner market and a critical perspective on the interaction of physical attractiveness and gender-based power relationships.... view less
