Zahlreiche Menschen nutzen digitale Technologien zur alltäglichen Selbstdokumentation. Die Autorin untersucht am Beispiel von Schwangerschaftsverhütung, wie die digitale Selbstbeobachtung auch in intime Lebensbereiche eingebunden ist. In ihrer Analyse argumentiert sie, dass sich die Verhütung mithilfe von Zyklus-Apps in einem Spannungsfeld von Emanzipationsbestrebungen und soziokulturellen Anforderungen bewegt. Im Fokus ihrer empirischen Arbeit stehen sowohl selbstermächtigende Momente innerhalb der Wissensaushandlungen der Akteur*innen als auch normative Elemente wie die Reproduktion von Geschlechterrollen im Digitalen. Numerous people use digital technologies for their everyday documentation of the self. Using the example of contraception, the author examines how the digital self-observation is integrated in intimate spheres of life. In her analysis she argues that contraception by means of period tracking apps is caught between emancipation efforts and sociocultural demands. Her empirical work focuses on self-empowering aspects within the knowledge negotiations of the actors as well as normative elements like the digital reproduction of gender roles.
