Frühpädagogische Geschlechterstudien in Deutschland fokussieren oftmals ausschließlich auf Unterschiede zwischen (zwei) Geschlechtern. Am Beispiel eines ethnographischen Projekts zu doing gender in der Kindertageseinrichtung wird in Abgrenzung zu einer Differenzperspektive der Mehrwert einer Forschungsperspektive auf Geschlechterkonstruktionen zur Diskussion gestellt. In dieser Perspektive wird Geschlechterdifferenz nicht vorab als gegeben gesetzt, sondern der Prozess der Geschlechterdifferenzierung empirisch untersucht. Ethnographische Forschungsperspektiven können alternative Sichtweisen auf Bedeutungsdimensionen von Geschlecht in Kindertageseinrichtungen bieten, die die Vielfalt und Komplexität geschlechtlicher Praktiken im pädagogischen Alltag abzubilden vermögen.... view less

Early educational gender studies in Germany often only focus on differences between (two) genders. Using the example of an ethnographic project on doing gender in a child day-care centre, the value of a research perspective on gender constructions is, therefore, discussed in contrast to a perspective on differences. In this perspective, gender differences are not taken for granted in advance, but the process of doing gender is empirically investigated. Ethnographic research can offer alternative perspectives on gender in child day-care facilities, which are able to show the diversity and complexity of gender practices in everyday pedagogical life.... view less
