The central, but totally fuzzy concept of information, that these activities are normally based on, obscures essential problems and leads to misconceptions and the generation of myths. In order to overcome these challenges, the paper presents an alternative, more appropriate analytical framework based on the Peircean logic of signs that, on her part, allows for alignment with Giddens' theory of structuring social practices. This integrated view of computersupported social practices in organizations allows a more focused access to fundamental, but frequently missed challenges of analysing, comprehending and designing digital organizations. Long standing research on computerbased organizational development demonstrates the benefits.... view less
