Dieser Beitrag rückt die Arbeits- und Industriesoziologie selbst in den Mittelpunkt. Auf der Basis von Dokumentenanalysen und qualitativen Interviews mit Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftlern wird im internationalen Vergleich von Großbritannien und Deutschland deren empirische Forschungspraxis fokussiert. Historisch sind in den beiden Ländern markante Parallelen der 'Arbeitsforschung' ersichtlich, vor allem auch hinsichtlich ihrer methodischen Traditionen. Mit Blick auf die Industrial Relations Forschung in Großbritannien zeigen sich diesbezüglich jedoch in den letzten Jahren gravierende Veränderungen. Diese scheinen sich weniger in Richtung Vielfalt und Innovation zu bewegen, sondern hin zu einer 'Standardisierung von Forschungspraxis'. This article focuses on how research is being done in Industrial Relations Research and Sociology of Work in Great Britain and Germany. Historically, those two fields are characterised by striking similarities, for example in method traditions. However, lately one can witness substantial changes in British research practice. Documentary evidence and interviews with British scientists indicate that research gets more and more standardised. This 'standardisation of research practice' in British Industrial Relations Research is examined from a Sociology of Science perspective and contrasted with developments in this field in Germany.... view less
