Jede Entscheidung hat ihre Konsequenzen, so dass sich anschließend oft fragen lässt, "was wäre wenn…" eine andere getroffen worden wäre. Der Kontrafaktualismus ergründet diese Denkstruktur und findet quer durch die Wissenschaften zahlreiche Ansätze, besagte Frage zu ergründen. Der virtuelle Raum bietet die Möglichkeit, sich in einer Welt jenseits der Naturgesetze, außerhalb von Linearität und Kausalität, zu verlieren oder neu zu erleben. Die Kunst kann sich dieser expansiven Plattform bedienen und so lässt sich eine Reihe von Künstler_innen beobachten, die in ihren Arbeiten Sinneserfahrung und Erkenntnisgewinn einer parallelen Realität zur Geltung bringen, teilweise noch verdoppelt durch Augmented Reality.... view less

Every decision results in its consequences and the subsequent considerations, what would have happened if we had chosen differently, follow swiftly. Counterfactualism can be understood as an endeavour to explore this cognitive structure and to find diverse approaches to investigate the descriptive model behind that question. To involve oneself in a world outside the laws of nature, beyond that of linearity and causality becomes possible in the realm of the virtual space. When artists engage in this sphere, a parallel reality can be experienced along the urge to grasp "what if…", combining existential sensation with intellectual insight under the terms of the contrary-to-fact conditional.... view less
