La investigación histórica del "tiempo presente" en Alemania

Abstract

En este artículo, el autor analiza la trayectoria de la historiografía alemana enfocada, principalmente, al "tiempo presente": 1945-1990. Para ello, el autor va desglosando, describiendo y comparando las principales temáticas e interpretaciones históricas abordadas en este periodo tanto en la que fuera la República Federal de Alemania (RFA) como en la República Democrática Alemana (RDA). Asimismo, se concentra en el surgimiento de las instituciones de investigación histórica -sobre todo las que emergieron después de la caída del Muro- y sus metas, problemas, temáticas y métodos de trabajo. El artículo continúa con la polémica histérico-política creada en la Alemania unificada a raíz de nuevas interpretaciones sobre el tema del holocausto y el régimen del nacionalsocialismo. El autor finaliza con un breve comentario acerca de la situación actual de la historiografía alemana del tiempo presente y sus nuevos enfoques y perspectivas.

The author analyzes German historiography’s trajectory focused, primarily, on the "present time": 1945-1990. To achieve this, he breaks down, describes and compares the main subjects touched during the period in which they once were, both, the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) and the German Democratic Republic (GDR). Thus, he concentrates on the rise of historical research institutions -especially those emerging after the fall of the Berlin Wall- their goals, problems, subject matter and working methods. The article continues with political-historical controversy rising in unified Germany due to new interpretations on the holocaust and the national socialism regime. The author closes with a brief commentary on German historiography's present situation and its new focus and perspective.
