El artículo explora el impacto de las presiones y directrices que poderosas instituciones transnacionales como el Banco Mundial dictan en la elaboración de las políticas de la educación superior en México. En este sentido, el artículo adopta una postura crítica frente a la falta de creatividad y autonomía del gobierno para elaborar una política educativa que realmente responda a los desafíos nacionales y no simplemente traduzca los esquemas de privatización de la educación que estos organismos imponen. En este fenómeno se encuentra la principal causa del actual conflicto de la UNM. The article explores the pressures and directives that powerful transnational institutions like the World Bank dictate for higher learning policymaking in Mexico. The article criticizes the government's lack of creativity and freedom to forge an educational policy that is truly responsive to national challenges and does not simply translate the privatizing schemes for education imposed by these organisms. The main cause of today's conflict in the UNAM lies within this phenomenon. The latter part of the essay is most original in exploring the possible outcomes of the conflict.... view less
